Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) is a technology that allows you to make telephone calls using a broadband Internet connection instead of a regular (or analog) phone line.  You will need to subscribe to a Packet8 broadband phone service to use this phone in your home.  Please check with your servcie provider BEFORE ordering to be sure that this system is compatible. Once you subscribe to a service of this type, you simply plug this phone in the line between your broadband modem and your computer.  You can plug your old phone into this one and keep using it if you wish!   

                 This is not a regular analog phone.    This phone is a VoIP phone system.
