These hand carved wood baskets are a great idea for gift or decor.  Each basket is hand carved from a solid stump left in the ground to cure for a year. Each basket is unique and will besimiliar to, but not exactly like those shown in our pictures.  Each basket will have a diameter of 9" to 12" and stand about as tall.  

The stump and root of this tree is left in the ground for one year so the wood will cure naturally. After one year the root is dug up and taken to a skilled artist. The artist individually selects the perfect root to form this basket you hve chosen. He hand carves out the stump and then turns it over to form the roots into a beautiful handle. You can count the rings on the bottom of the basket to see how old the tree is. Every basket is a unique piece of nature’s creation. Each basket has its own characteristics and is different. The color and shape vary depending on the soil type and the growing conditions. The finished basket is full of character and bearing beautiful wood grain patterns, naturally occurring knots and scalloped edges from years of growth. It is natural for these baskets to dry and settle more. This process might cause the basket to crack a little. This is no process to stop this from happening. Put a little wood putty in the crack and add LOVE and a little lemon or mineral oil.
