The MSB-RX antenna is for use as a home base scanner antenna. The
primary element is an efficient, wire-wound design with special built-in traps
for better performance in the action-packed 140-170 MHz band. However, the
antenna can be used to receive scanner signals between 25 and 1200 MHz.
The primary element is 3 foot (91cm) and white in color. The kit also
includes a complete mounting assembly, and three 24 inch (61cm) solid aluminum
radials. This base antenna assembles and mounts in a matter of minutes.
It can be mounted to a mast, a vertical or horizontal rail, or to the side of
any building or structure. The antenna termination is a standard SO-239 so
you may use any coax cable that is terminated with a standard PL-259. Due
to the various locations that users install the antenna, we do not supply the
coaxial feed line with this kit. Nonetheless, the antenna requires RG-58
or equivalent coax for the feed line from the antenna to the scanner.
Firestik offers a 50ft (15.2m) RG-58A/U coaxial cable that is terminated on one
end with a weather-tight PL-259 connector that will attach to the MSB-RX
antenna. The scanner end is not processed due to the variety of possible
connections used on scanners (RCA, BNC, UHF, etc).
