This makes a good Corvette CB antenna if you can find a good Corvette antenna mount. COMPONENT INFORMATION: ANTENNA: The antenna used in this kit is similar in appearance to FireStick's E36 Venice base load antenna. The antenna's frequency was altered in order to maintain a desirable center band position when used with the included tuned coaxial feedline. Accordingly, the antennas may only be used with a Firestik NGP antenna cable. The base coil has an adjustable foot that matches the base and allows the antenna to swing 90° in either direction from vertical. The angle adjustment mechanism has a thru-bolt and wing nut for easy angle adjustment. An optional security set is available which prevents the removal of the antenna without the provided key. Adjusting the SWR is as easy as loosening a pair of set screws and moving the whip up or down as required. The rated maximum wattage for the antenna in this kit is 100 watts, far more than the FCC authorized output of 4 watts for CB radios. All parts of the antenna are finished in black. COAXIAL FEEDLINE: The seventeen-foot ((5.2 M) RG-58 A/U coaxial cable used in this kit is of the highest quality. Due to the vibrations found on all mobile installations, a multi-wire stranded center conductor is used to prevent breakage. Surrounding the center conductor is a long life, flexible polyvinyl insulation. To guard against signal leakage, the center conductor is shielded with a copper wire braid that averages about 95% coverage (versus the industry standard of 70%). The coaxial feedline, besides being the conduit for the signal to reach the antenna, serves as a tuned circuit that creates the necessary counterpoise. If a longer cable length is required, the user may add standard RG-58 A/U cable between the radio and system cable, preferably in lengths that are multiples of nine feet. MOUNT AND HARDWARE: The antenna can be mounted to any mount or surface that can accommodate its 1.5" (38mm) base diameter. The mounting base is designed to use the common American standard that calls for a 1/2" mounting hole. The tilt/fold-down mechanism allows the antenna to be adjusted more than 90 degrees in either direction parallel to its mounting surface. Even when angle adjustment isn't a requirement, the fold down option can be very helpful to those moving in and out of parking facilities. The base includes a rubber gasket/seal to protect against water leaks. All exposed metal parts are finished in classy, gloss black chrome.
