Q: Will this scanner pick up my local police transmissions? A: That depends. A good rule of thumb is if your local PD is in or close to a large metropolitan area. Large cities like Los Angeles or New York have so many units that need to use a limited amount of frequencies that they must use digital trunking systems. The BC72XLT will not pick up these transmissions. You will need a trunktracker scanner for that. If you are in a smaller area, this scanner should work for you. You can find the frequencies of your local PD on various sites online (search for "police frequencies"). Once you have your local frequencies, just check them against a particular scanners range. In this case the BC72XLT covers 25-54MHz, 108-174MHz and 406-512 MHz. BC72XLT Features:- 100 Channels
